In our last post about summer, we reminisce about travel in Europe, conferences, and the amazing work of the Gustavus Academy for Faith, Science, and Ethics, all with Dr. Bunge, Distinguished Chair of Lutheran Studies and Professor in the Department of Religion.

Here are 4 bits of news for the Blog…

A lot happened this summer: Went to Prague; a writing retreat with a colleague from Boston College; and the conference on the Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education in the Cities. Ate German chocolate.

SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS:

Delighted to have been invited to present a lecture at the University of Erfurt, Germany for an interdisciplinary course on “The Wellbeing of the Child: Promotion, Protection, Rights” and to meet the amazing scholars who organize and direct the course, Prof. Dr. Myriam Wijlens and Yeshica Umaña Calderón.

Enjoyed hearing world-class musicians perform works of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries at the annual Bach Festival in Leipzig, Germany. My daughter, Anja, was able to travel with me.

Had a great time helping to lead the Gustavus Academy for Faith, Science, and Ethics and learning about insects and sharing faith stories with scientists, theologians, high school students, college mentors.

Attended the Interfaith Leadership Summit in Chicago with leaders of Interfaith America and representatives from colleges and universities across the country.
